Well, folks, we're almost there. A couple more weeks, and Wells Fargo will have approved our renovation loan, and we'll be on our way.
First things will be to have the framers re-frame the 2nd floor bathroom, window openings, interior wall framing and floors. Then the roofers will tear off the existing roof, repair the decking as required, and replace with a 30-year shingle roof. Hopefully about the same time masons will have repaired the front porch's failing masonry to sound condition. Then I will begin the installation of the windows and doors and replacement / repair of the existing wood siding and trim. Within the first month, month-and-a-half we should be near complete with tightening up the exterior. I know...sounds ambitious and probably is.
I just can't wait to get started and actually finish this thing, because it has been on our plate for far too long. It won't quite be the house we wanted it to be, but the place should turn out to be one heckuva nice rental property, maintenance free for years to come.
More to come as soon as we get past the loan closing...
